I have a kinda "knowledge-management situation" and I really would like to know what tools should I choose now to make this thing work.
I know the FreeMind mind mapping software, which is great to in creating a visual structure of human thoughts. Also know (but did not use yet) the DokuWiki which is good at creating knowledge based on tags and hierarchical.
Here is my situation: I have several books, which are really important for me so I decided to process their content into a system, where I can find all knowledge connecting to a certain topics in chronological order. E.g. I would like to search for a word like "industry". I would like to list everything about "industry" between 1975-1990. Of course it means that I have to include a datum and a tagging system beneath the real content I type in.
My requisites:
* would be great to run it on a local computer browser (even on a simple small netbook), preferably without running a web-server, or running a web-server locally (localhost). It is also good if it is just a desktop application.
* should have an extra-fast editor that allows text typing very fast (like at Notepad++ text editor)
* allows to enter chronological data by year (e.g. 1970)
* allows to enter any kind of tagging information (e.g. "industry", "factory", "workers")
* easy tag-assignment to already existing content
* its search would show the result in chronological order, like. (imaginary example) word "industry"
in 1975
between 1976-1980
in 1983
in 1996
etc...
So for this purposes I think neither Freemind, nor Wikipedia is suitable.
Can you recommend any kind of (preferebly open source) knowledge managment system that accomplishes this task?
